How long should proposals be?
Proposals for individual papers should be submitted in form of an abstract of about 350 words. Proposals for thematic panels (of two or four papers) should include all paper abstracts of 350 words each and the names and e-mail addresses of all paper givers. Proposals for roundtables should include a description of the topic (about 500 words) and the names and e-mail addresses of all participants (3-5 discussants and one chair) of the roundtable.
What kind of submissions are allowed?
The conference organizers welcome three different kinds of submissions. A single paper submission for a presentation on the conference of 20 minutes followed by 10 minutes of question and answer. Thematic panels consist of two or four papers discussing a specific topic. A roundtable session aims to provide a forum for the discussion of an important issue (e.g. hot and emerging topics, author meets critics sessions on new and important books, methodological challenges etc). No talks are given in a roundtable session. Paper givers may also participate as discussants or chairs in roundtable sessions.
When can I expect to get a decision about my proposal?
We aim to finish the selection process within four to five weeks after the submission deadline.
I am a graduate student. Can I submit a proposal?
Yes, also as graduate student you can submit a proposal for an individual paper, thematic panel or roundtable.
How many proposals can I submit?
It is possible to submit one proposal for each category.
Do I need to submit my paper beforehand?
Papers do not need to be submitted beforehand.
Registration
How much is the conference fee?
The registration fee for participants is 100€ and covers the conference folder, a guided city tour on Tuesday, coffee breaks, two lunch snacks and the conference dinner on Monday Students as well as participants from countries classified aslow-income, lower-middle and upper-middle income economies by the World Bank pay a subsidized fee of 50€. Is there a reduced fee for students?
If you are a student, you can get a reduced fee of 50€. For students of the University of Salzburg the participation is free of charge. Please go to this page to registrate.
I am an independent/non-tenured scholar. Can I get a fee reduction?
The conference fee covers the conference folder, as well as a guided city tour on Tuesday, coffee breaks, two lunch snacks as well as the conference dinner on Monday. How can I pay the conference fee?
The conference fee can only be paid via our University's online tool, which accepts all types of major credit cards. Please go to this page to registrate.
When is the registration deadline?
For all participants registration opens on 15 May. For presenting participants the registration closes on 30 June. Late registration is possible until 31 July at an increased fee (+50€). Please go to this page to registrate. Non-presenting participants and accompanying persons need to register before 31 July.
Can I register without giving a paper?
Yes, in this case, choose the standard registration for non-presenting participants. If you are from a low-income or lower-middle income country, register for the standard registration (reduced fee)(non-presenting participant). Please go to this page to registrate.
Can I get a refund?
Yes refunds are possible.
Terms of cancellation by participant: Registration fees will be refunded in case of cancellation up to 21 days before the conference (until 21 August 2022).
For organizational reasons refunds for cancellations until 15 July 2022 will be handled before the conference date. Refunds for cancellations after 15 July 2022 and until 21 August 2022 will be handled after the conference.
No refunds are possible for cancellations made after 21 August 2022.
In case of cancellation by organizer registration fees will be refunded fully.

Can I use Power-Point
Yes, all rooms are equipped with a PC and a projector. Please bring your presentation on a stick with you. Username and password for the login can be found in the printed conference program and are displayed next to the PC.
Can I use media (pictures, film, audio)?
Yes, all rooms are quipped with a PC and a projector. Please bring the media in standard formats on a stick with you.
Can I give more than one talk?
Yes, but only one talk in the open panel session, one in a thematic panel and you can be a participant of a roundtable.
What are my tasks as a chair?
As a chair you have six tasks
Be in the room a few minutes before the panel starts.
Log into the computer, so the speakers can put their presentations on it. Username and password for the login can be found in the printed conference program and are displayed next to the PC.
Start in time.
There is no time for speaker introduction, just mention name and title of the paper.
Make sure that every speaker gets 30 minutes total (20+10 Q&A).
Moderate the Q&A (please do not allow overly long questions or comments).
What if a speaker does not show-up?
If a speaker does not show-up just start with the next talk.
Social Program and Food
When will the conference dinner be?

Is there a particular dress code for the conference dinner?
There is no particular dess code for the conference dinner.
What can I expect from the conference dinner?
The conference dinner will be á la carte. You can order whatever you want from the menu including drinks until 21.00 (9 pm.). Everything afterwards is at your own expense. Please be aware, that the conference is on poverty, so please no champagne and not too many cakes.
What food/drinks will be provided during the conference?
Drinks (incl. coffee and tea), snacks and fruits will be provided during the whole conference. For lunch there will be a vegan and vegetarian fingerfood.
Will there be vegetarian and vegan food?
Yes, the lunch breaks will contain only of vegan and vegetarian food, also at the conference dinner there will be vegetarian and vegan options.
When will the city tour take place?
The city tour will take place on Tuesday at 14.15 after the closing plenary session and organizers' concluding remarks. Meeting point will be in front of the conference building at 14.00. Look at this page for further information.
Can I bring my partner with me to the conference, dinner or city tour?
Of course you can bring your partner to the conference, the dinner and the city tour, but please register beforehand via the registration. If your partner wants to attend the conference, please register as a non-presenting participant. We also offer the option to register only for the guided city tour on Friday or the conference dinner on Thursday. Look at this page to registrate.

Where will the conference take place?

We do not have any special arrangements with hotels in the city.

Can you help me with my visa application?
In case you need help with your visa application, please feel free to contact us, we can get you an invitation letter.
Will I get a confirmation of participation?
Confirmations of participation will be provided at the conference.
Are there opportunities to publish my conference paper?
We do not publish conference proceedings but sometimes fully peer reviewed special issues in journals based on the conference. If this is the case, it will be announced at the conference.
Is there wifi available at the conference venue?
Yes, you can access wifi for free at the conference venue. Username and password will be printed in the conference program. You can also access the eduroam network at the conference venue.
